Backend Engineer
Own the services behind the investor portal and the research platform's APIs.
01 — The role
What the job is.
Small surface area, high stakes. You will design APIs that hold investor data, and you will be expected to make the security review boring rather than interesting. Remote, US or EU hours.
02 — Responsibilities
What you would own.
- Design and operate APIs for the investor portal and internal tools.
- Model data with the same point-in-time discipline as the research stack.
- Build authentication and authorisation that a security review will pass.
- Write the tests, dashboards and runbooks that let someone else operate your service.
- Improve reliability without slowing the team down.
03 — Requirements
Skills, qualifications
and experience.
Skills
- One systems language (Go, Rust, Java, Python, PHP, Node) and the judgement to choose
- Relational modelling and query performance
- API design: versioning, idempotency, pagination, error semantics
- Observability and incident response
Qualifications
- Four or more years building backend services in production
- Security literacy: OWASP basics, secrets handling, least privilege
Experience
- Financial or regulated environments are a plus
- Having designed something that survived its first year of traffic
04 — Compensation
What we pay.
Base salary
$165,000 – $230,000
USD per year, plus annual bonus and equity. The range reflects the
level we are hiring at; the offer depends on experience.
