Execution Researcher

Turn market microstructure into measurable edge, and stop the last mile from eating it.

  • Research
  • New York
  • Full-time

What the job is.

A strategy's theoretical return is decided in the last mile. You will research order placement, venue behaviour and impact, then prove the improvement trade by trade.

What you would own.

  • Research execution algorithms, order placement and venue selection.
  • Measure implementation shortfall trade by trade and attribute it to spread, impact and timing.
  • Build market impact models that feed back into portfolio construction.
  • Work with engineering on how the order stack behaves under stress.
  • Run experiments in production, with tight risk limits.

Skills, qualifications
and experience.

Skills

  • Microstructure theory and empirical methods
  • Python; C++ a plus
  • Statistics of high-frequency data, including noise and autocorrelation
  • Tick data handling at scale

Qualifications

  • Empirical work you can walk us through: a paper, a backtest, or a system in production
  • A demonstrated ability to measure an effect and show it is not noise

Experience

  • Two or more years in execution research, algorithmic trading or microstructure
  • Familiarity with at least one major venue or asset class

What we pay.

Base salary $190,000 – $280,000 USD per year, plus annual bonus and equity. The range reflects the level we are hiring at; the offer depends on experience.
