Infrastructure Engineer

Keep a research and trading platform fast, boring and available.

  • Engineering
  • New York
  • Full-time

What the job is.

Boring is the goal. The best infrastructure week is one where nothing interesting happened, and the research cluster was fast the whole time.

What you would own.

  • Own compute, storage and networking for research and production.
  • Automate provisioning so environments are reproducible.
  • Keep the research cluster fast enough that iteration stays cheap.
  • Run monitoring and the on-call rotation for critical services.
  • Harden the estate: patching, least privilege, audit trails.

Skills, qualifications
and experience.

Skills

  • Linux internals, networking and distributed systems
  • Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Containers and orchestration, or a good argument against them
  • Observability: metrics, tracing, structured logs

Qualifications

  • Five or more years in infrastructure or SRE roles
  • Security-minded by default

Experience

  • Low-latency or high-throughput environments are a plus
  • Having owned a production incident from alert to post-mortem

What we pay.

Base salary $170,000 – $240,000 USD per year, plus annual bonus and equity. The range reflects the level we are hiring at; the offer depends on experience.

Benefits

  • Equity in the firm from the first day
  • Medical, dental and vision cover for you and your dependants
  • Twenty weeks of parental leave
  • Twenty-five days of paid leave, plus public holidays
  • A $3,000 annual learning budget, with no approval process
  • One day a week for self-directed work
  • Visa sponsorship and immigration assistance, including for dependants
  • Relocation support: shipping, temporary housing and help settling in
