Quantitative Researcher, Equities
Own equity signals from first hypothesis to live capital, on a book that trades continuously across global markets.
01 — The role
What the job is.
Equity research here is a single loop: propose a mechanism, encode it, test it honestly, then defend it in front of people who would rather you were wrong. You will run that loop with real capital behind it.
02 — Responsibilities
What you would own.
- Develop return forecasts across equity markets, from intraday to multi-month horizons.
- Build and maintain the point-in-time datasets your research depends on.
- Take models through validation, paper trading and staged deployment.
- Present work at research review, where it will be attacked in good faith.
- Monitor live strategies, and retire them when the edge decays.
03 — Requirements
Skills, qualifications
and experience.
Skills
- Python, plus one of C++, Rust or Julia for performance-critical work
- Statistics and econometrics: regression, time series, resampling, multiple-testing control
- Market microstructure and transaction-cost modelling
- SQL and columnar tooling (Parquet, Polars, DuckDB)
Qualifications
- A body of quantitative work you can defend line by line: models, papers, code or live strategies
- Evidence of a hypothesis surviving out-of-sample testing
Experience
- Three or more years in systematic research, or a research record built outside a formal role
- Having taken at least one model from idea to production
04 — Compensation
What we pay.
Benefits
- Equity in the firm from the first day
- Medical, dental and vision cover for you and your dependants
- Twenty weeks of parental leave
- Twenty-five days of paid leave, plus public holidays
- A $3,000 annual learning budget, with no approval process
- One day a week for self-directed work
- Visa sponsorship and immigration assistance, including for dependants
- Relocation support: shipping, temporary housing and help settling in
