Risk Analyst

Independent oversight of a multi-strategy book, with the authority to cut exposure.

  • Risk
  • New York
  • Full-time

What the job is.

Risk reports to the partnership, not to the investment committee. That is deliberate: the person watching the book needs to be able to say no without a meeting.

What you would own.

  • Monitor portfolio risk daily: exposure, concentration, liquidity, correlation.
  • Build stress scenarios that assume historical correlations are wrong.
  • Report to the partnership, outside the investment team.
  • Challenge position sizing and flag strategies drifting from their mandate.
  • Own the limit framework and the escalation path when it is breached.

Skills, qualifications
and experience.

Skills

  • Quantitative risk methods: the limits of VaR, factor models, scenario design
  • Python or R for analysis, and SQL fluency
  • Clear writing under time pressure

Qualifications

  • Two or more years in risk, or a quantitative role with risk exposure
  • The willingness to say no to a portfolio manager

Experience

  • A multi-asset or multi-strategy environment is preferred
  • Having run an incident review end to end

What we pay.

Base salary $140,000 – $190,000 USD per year, plus annual bonus and equity. The range reflects the level we are hiring at; the offer depends on experience.

Benefits

  • Equity in the firm from the first day
  • Medical, dental and vision cover for you and your dependants
  • Twenty weeks of parental leave
  • Twenty-five days of paid leave, plus public holidays
  • A $3,000 annual learning budget, with no approval process
  • One day a week for self-directed work
  • Visa sponsorship and immigration assistance, including for dependants
  • Relocation support: shipping, temporary housing and help settling in
