Technical Lead, Platform
Lead the engineers who build the research platform, and stay close to the code.
01 — The role
What the job is.
This is a working lead role. You will run a team of four to six, own the architecture, and still review the pull requests that matter. New York or remote, with quarterly time in the office.
02 — Responsibilities
What you would own.
- Set technical direction for the research platform and data tooling.
- Lead a team of four to six engineers: hire, mentor and review.
- Own architecture decisions and write the documents behind them.
- Keep the platform's performance and reliability budgets honest.
- Partner with research leads on what the platform should do next.
03 — Requirements
Skills, qualifications
and experience.
Skills
- Deep systems experience: data platforms, compute, storage
- Technical leadership without leaving the codebase
- Written communication: design documents, RFCs, decision records
Qualifications
- Eight or more years in engineering, two or more leading a team
- A record of shipping platforms that other people depend on
Experience
- Research or trading infrastructure is strongly preferred
- Having made an architectural bet and lived with the result
04 — Compensation
What we pay.
Base salary
$220,000 – $300,000
USD per year, plus annual bonus and equity. The range reflects the
level we are hiring at; the offer depends on experience.
